UltraRAD Announces UltraSCAN

Largo, FL – November 22, 2004: UltraRAD announces UltraSCAN, an innovative new product which allows for non-DICOM paper documents to be scanned and attached to appropriate DICOM patient studies in just a few simple steps. When the radiologist opens the study for interpretation, they not only see the study examination, but also have easy access to supporting non-image information that may prove critical to a confident diagnosis. “During the past year, UltraRAD’s development staff has worked very hard to bring new products to the market which will enhance the PACS experience for all users,” says Travis Nuzzi, VP of Research and Development. UltraSCAN software and document scanner can be installed on almost any standard Windows PC which quickly enables you to pass information to your existing PACS and/or DICOM Viewing System. Critical Information, such as Physicians Orders, Technologists Diagrams, Lab Reports, EKG's, and other pertinent information can be scanned, converted to DICOM and attached to the appropriate DICOM patient study. Documents can be easily manipulated with UltraSCAN as well, which allows for document rotation, cropping, and inversion, prior to transmission. The design of the system enables ease of use for all department personnel such as clerical staff, Technologists, and Physicians. By utilizing industry standards for DICOM, UltraRAD assures compatibility with all DICOM compliant networks. By allowing sites to attach pertinent non-DICOM (or paper) documentation to your current PACS system, you can assure that information remains immediately available within the PACS network. The product enables your facility with another tool to assist you in staying compliant with HIPAA guidelines. Utilizing UltraSCAN will also expedite the turn around time of reports and ease information correlation for referring physicians. UltraRAD will be showcasing their new UltraSCAN product at the up coming RSNA convention in Chicago, IL, booth # 4954. According to Mr. Nuzzi, “UltraSCAN is one of many utility packages we have released which enhances the overall workflow and performance of new and old PACS systems.”
