The Next Generation of the DICOM Image Router
Largo, FL – November 24, 2004: UltraRAD announces UltraGATEWAY, a highly configurable DICOM image router which provides image distribution, ease of serviceability, queue management, encryption and image compression. Fast traffic for images results in time saving, cost reduction and enhanced patient care. “We have leveraged the power of the LEADTools toolkit to provide us with comprehensive DICOM functionality and conformance,” says Travis Nuzzi, VP of Research and Development. “This allowed us to focus on the development and functionality of the PACS Gateway solution.” UltraGATEWAY is an application used for receiving, storing, and routing medical images. Using this software solution, digital images and data from various sources (CT, MR, US, RF, CR, DR, etc.) can be processed, stored and communicated across computer networks. UltraGATEWAY is the ultimate way to compress and distribute studies across point-to-point connections within the facility as well as out to any remote location for consultation purposes. At the remote location, the Physician can read the studies using any Viewing workstation to determine if further diagnosis or additional acquisition views are required. Future modules for UltraGATEWAY can be integrated with an institution’s existing Hospital Information System (HIS) or Radiology Information System (RIS), providing seamless access to reports and correct patient demographics. Some of the future steps for UltraGATEWAY include, but are not limited to, Quality Control including Automatic/Manual QC of Demographics, Data Validation, a DICOM Email Option and an HL7 Option. UltraRAD will be showcasing UltraGATEWAY v1.4 at the up coming RSNA convention in Chicago, IL, Booth # 4954. “Now that we have a stable routing product with JPEG 2000 support, we look forward to adding modules like Image QC, Auto/Manual Quality Control of Demographics, Data Validation, DICOM to Email Gateway, HL7 Gateway and other functionality that will easily place this product as the premier PACS Information Gateway,” according to Mr. Nuzzi.
